A Fireman's Prayer

When I am called to duty, God
Wherever flames may rage,
Give me strength to save some life
Whatever be its age.
Help me embrace a little child
Before it is too late
Or save an older person from
The horror of that fate.
Enable me to be alert and hear the weakest shout
And quickly and efficiently
To put the fire out.
I want to fill my calling and
To give the best in me,
To guard my every neighbor and
Protect his property.
And if according to my fate
I am to lose my life,
Please bless with your protecting hand
My children and my wife.

The Mechanicville Fire Department Line of Duty Deaths

In their efforts to preserve the lives and property of the residents of the City of Mechanicville, Mechanicville Firefighters have had to put their lives in danger. Unfortunately, some members have had to give the ultimate sacrifice, donating their lives without hesitation.

This memorial is dedicated to the members of the Mechanicville Fire Department who have attended their last call and who will always be remembered by their families, their neighbors, and their MFD brothers and sisters.

The Firefighter's 23rd Psalm

The Lord is my Chief, he has chosen me to serve.
He leads me to still the fires raging around me.
He restores my soul to fight even when all seems lost.
He has prepared for me a place in life.
Devoted to service, honor, joy, and fellowship.
He anoints my soul with courage in the presence of my enemy - "Fire."
Yes, even though I walk through life in the shadow of death,
I will fear no fire, for he is with me.
His strength will comfort me,
And when life's final alarm for me has sounded,
I will dwell in the station house of the Lord forever.
Amen.
