WATER EMERGENCY PROCEDURES
("Boil water advisories")
Issued: 03/19/2002
- The Water Superintendent will issue the Boil
Water notice.
- The Boil Water notice will be into effect for
a minimum of 48 hrs.
- Samples of water will be collected through out
the Distribution System.
- Two consecutive days of sampling will be done.
- All samples must be analyzed in a laboratory
certified by the New York State Department of Health.
- Samples are to be tested for total coliform
bacteria. All total coliform positive samples must be analyzed for E.coli.
The laboratory will perform the E.coli test if the water sample initially
tests positive for total coliform bacteria.
- The Boil Water Notice will be lifted when two
(2) consecutive tests have been completed and the samples are negative.
