The meeting was called to order at 6:05 p.m. on April 27, 2009 of the Mechanicville Civil Service Commission.
Present : Commissioner Thompson
Chairperson Peluso
Absent: Commissioner Robens
The minutes of the previous meeting held on March 30, 2009 were read and approved.
The Chairperson spoke to Executive Director Enzien regarding a letter sent to his office regarding the two positions in the Housing Authority (Occupancy Specialist and Housing Program Asst. Inspector). The meeting went well and Director Enzien is to supply our office with Report of Personnel Changes on the two employees. The Secretary informed the Commission that all was received. A memo will be sent to the Department of Civil Service, Rob Richardson, to discuss whether the examinations for both positions are compatible.
The Chairperson then discussed a letter sent to Commissioner Messore regarding the Automotive Mechanics position. Correspondence was received back asking if he can hire the employee who just retired. The Commission agreed as long as this person meets the minimum qualifications stated in the job specification.
Old Business
Next, the commission discussed the classification questionnaire received from the Commission of Public Safety. Due to the complexity of the duties assigned and the vast area of the duties assigned to this position, we are going to confer with the State Civil Service Commission for review. Also, the commission discussed the Stenographer positions in the school district and agreed to send a classification questionnaire to all Stenographers and evaluate these positions. Given that stenography is not taught anymore, Civil Service should look in changing these job titles.
