Minutes of Meeting

Held March 30, 2009

The meeting was called to order at 6:05 p.m. on March 30, 2009 of the Mechanicville Civil Service Commission.

            The minutes of the previous meeting held on February 23, 2009 were read and approved. 

            The Chairperson discussed with the commissioners the memo sent to Chief Waldron regarding full time temporary appointments.  The appointments were approved on a temporary basis not to exceed 90 days. 

            The Chairperson then discussed the letter that was sent to John Enzien with regards to the two positions (Housing Program Asst/Inspector and Occupancy Specialist).  The Chairperson will be meeting with the Director of Housing Authority and will inform the commission as to the outcome of the meeting. 

            Next, the commission discussed the position of Typist in the Department of Public Safety with Commissioner Rielly.  The secretary was directed to send an email to Commissioner Rielly to talk about the positions needs and to have the employee fill out the classification questionnaire.  When completed, to return to Civil Service.

            Also, the Chairperson received a phone call from the Business Manager of the School District requesting that the School be put in the County.  The Chairperson informed her that it was a decision by the City Council and the Superintendent should talk to the Mayor about it.

            The following Report of Personnel changes were approved: 

a)                  Michelle Duell was appt. from the Library Manager Eligible List on 3/13/09. 

b)                  Steven McBride resigned as Cleaner on 3/16/09 from the School District.

c)                  Melissa Wallace was appt. off Certificate of Eligibles as Sr. Library Clerk on 3/20/09.

Old Business

                  a)         The Eligible list for Sr. Library Clerk and School Bus Dispatcher was approved. 
                              Commission agreed to request School Bus Dispatcher examination as there is only
                              one candidate.

                  b)          The Commission was informed of the current postings – Code Enforcement Officer
                               and Grants Administrator

New Business

The Commission agreed to request Housing Program Asst./Inspector examination to be given for current employee in the Housing Authority.
