The Mechanicville ExploreNY400 Committee is pleased to announce this summer's "Hudson - Fulton - Champlain Celebration" to be held at the city dock on Saturday, August 22nd, and Sunday, August 23rd 2009. These events will mark the 400th anniversary of Henry Hudson and Samuel de Champlain and the 200th Anniversary of Robert Fulton's steamboat trip from New York City to Albany.
Food and craft vendors will be on hand for this celebration. A professional Native American dance group will perform on Saturday and local entertainment on Sunday. There will also be a replica of a Native American village at the dock with teepees, wigwams, long houses, and other displays showing the different aspects of Native American culture. A replica of Henry Hudson's ship, the "Half Moon, " will also be available at the celebration.
